The production of Cortronici is intense and extremely extensive, a true explosion from 2017 to 2020. And it is upon reaching the fateful age of 90 that Tonino Casula writes an open letter, without explicit recipients. However, it is understood that his words are directed at the art world: as true as it is that contaminations have taken him far, mixing with other cultures and languages, now, with a spirit of recapitulation and a long retrospective gaze, it is understood how his journey and his works - from the early paintings to the latest 3D videos - are to be repositioned in the history of post-war Italy, finding the right space for them while preserving the freshness and continuous surprise that the study of his figure can offer. La produzione dei Cortronici è serrata ed estremamente vasta, una vera esplosione dal 2017 al 2020. Ed è al compiere dei fatidici 90 anni che Tonino Casula scrive una lettera aperta, senza destinatari espliciti. Si comprende, tuttavia, che le sue parole siano rivolte al mondo dell’arte: quanto è vero che le contaminazioni lo abbiano portato lontano, a mescolarsi in altre culture e in altri linguaggi, tanto ora, con uno spirito di ricapitolazione e un lungo sguardo retrospettivo, si capisce quanto il suo percorso e le sue opere – dalle prime tele fino agli ultimi video 3D – siano da ricollocare nella storia del secondo dopoguerra italiano, trovandovi il giusto spazio, pur conservandone la freschezza e la sorpresa continua che lo studio della sua figura possa offrire.
